Take That Fan Fiction: Chapter 1

LA is a beautiful place, but nothing beats London. Robbie Williams pulled his hat further over his head and sat down in the corner of a small Cafe.
Most of all Robbie loved London's people, that vibrant arty way they moved and spoke. He never got tired of listening to them talk. All around him people were talking, their voices murging into one excited chatter. Behind him he heard his name mentioned, an attractive man in his 20's was complaining over how his girlfriend never shut up about Robbie and Take That. Robbie grinned. Being famous does have its upsides.

"Excuse me?"

Robbie looked up at the waitress stood before him, her pony tail bobbing rythmically from side to side.

"What can I get you sir?" She gave him a wide smile. He squinted closer at her name tag - KATE.

"Cappuccino." Robbie passed her some money, making sure she kept the change. He liked the way her eyes were so alive. Another thing he loved about the people in London, the way they were so alive, content with simply living no matter how bad their situation.

Kate bounced away, Robbie slid his sunglasses back on and admired the way her waist curved out into her hips. One day he'd settle down with a woman, someone homely, sweet, kind and good at listening to his rants. Well, somethings he simply could not agree with.

Jumping slightly as his phone buzzed in his pocket, Robbie fidled with the button his coat to pull out his mobile.

On my way, terrible traffic.
Mark

Robbie grinned, Mark's texts were always so formal. Gary was the only person Mark deemed special enough to add smiley faces and kisses. Robbie's grin faded, poor Mark. Gary was so unaware of how Mark felt. One day, he thought, one day.

Before he had time to properly contemplate this, Kate was back, her red lips pulled into a smile, a cappucino held in her slender fingers. He thanked her as she placed the cup infront of him, she smiled again, her fingers lingering upon his.

"Um, this may seem strange... but do I know you?" She said, her soft brow furrowed.

"No." Robbie said, smiling at her confusion.

"You look like someone famous." Kate giggled.

"Well you never know right?" Robbie winked.

"Here." Kate fished in the pocket of her jeans and set a card down on the table. "Ring me sometime... maybe... if you want." And with that she was gone, leaving only the lingering scent of roses.

Robbie raised his eyebrows, but quickly changed them back. Gary was the only one who could get away with the raised eyebrow look, it had always been the way.

Robbie shook his head, how he never noticed the way Mark looked at him was quite beyond him. He could sniff out if someone liked him in two seconds flat, but that was Gary blissfully clueless, a hapless romantic and yet no one to dote upon. A Million Love Songs to his name and no one to sing to. They'd work it out, they had to, otherwise Robbie was going to have to intervene. Perhaps Jason and Howard would help him out, he thought, they certainly knew what it was like to fall in love. If they werent too busy dancing with each other, Robbie would ring them. Jesus, he thought laughing to himself, those two have a dance off about everything... down to even changing the bloody channel.

Mark slid into the chair opposite him, he was smiling but Robbie knew him better. Its hard when someone doesnt know you love them.

"Hey." Mark said, clapping Robbies shoulder with his palm in a friendly manner. "Sorry I'm late."

Robbie saluted him with his coffee cup. "Markies always late."

Mark laughed. "Yeah thats what Gary says, he said I cant even get on stage in time."

Robbie smiled. "He has a valid point."

"He always does."

Mark's smile faded. He hadnt seen Gary in a while, what with him finishing x Factor and then going away for a while. He missed him... not that he'd ever admit it to his face. Mark had once said that he didnt think he'd ever had a serious enough relationship to get his heart broken... boy how those words were slapping him in the face now.

"So what are you doing in London?" Mark said, a dry attempt to change the subject.

"Work, me and Gaz are still working on some lyrics for my album."

"I'd like to hear it."

"You will." Robbie said, not wanting to give too much away. His new album was going to be a surprise especially for Mark... and Gaz for that matter. Robbie did say he would stage an intervention and if he had to do that through song damn it he would!

The familiar chime of Mark's phone interrupted their conversation. Mark pulled out his mobile and studied the screen... his face fell. Robbie knew something was wrong... very wrong.
